Medium for endothelial cells from large vessels, with defined recombinant growth factors
01Description
Advanced Endothelial Cell Growth Medium is used for the culture of human endothelial cells from large vessels. Defined human recombinant growth factors, including VEGF and Long R3 IGF-1, replace the crude endothelial cell growth supplement. The complete medium contains foetal calf serum, L-glutamine, heparin, EGF, bFGF, VEGF, Long R3 IGF-1, ascorbic acid and hydrocortisone. For faster expansion with a higher serum content, choose Endothelial Cell Proliferation Medium. For a formulation without VEGF, choose Endothelial Cell Growth Medium. We offer the medium as 500 ml basal medium, on its own or together with the supplements, either as individual components or as a premixed Supplement-Mix. The individual components allow single factors to be adjusted or left out, while the Supplement-Mix is added in a single step. The basal medium is also available phenol red-free in the same formats, which avoids interference with fluorescence and colorimetric readouts as well as the weak oestrogen-like activity of phenol red. Supplements are required for use, and both supplement formats are also available separately. Once supplemented, the complete medium contains 2 % FCS (10 ml per 500 ml of basal medium).

- Storage and stability
- Store the basal medium at 2–8 °C, protected from light, and the supplements at −20 °C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the supplements. Once supplemented, the medium can be kept at 2–8 °C, protected from light, for up to one month. Do not freeze the medium.
